Hungarian English
In addition to regional differences, Hungarian and Romanian Englishes differ because of how English is taught. Adrienn Fekete -- a linguist from the University of Pécs, Hungary – conducted research of Hungarian English. Fekete found that a "majority of the students claimed that their present English teacher had either a British [variation] or a Hungarian [variation]...". Because Hungarians and Romanians continue to learn English with their own variations, Romanian English and Hungarian English will continue to diverge.
In Romania, English has a higher status and is spoken by more people than Hungarian. Hungarian is the second most spoken native language in Romania, yet only about six percent of Romanians it. English on the other hand is spoken by about 30 percent speak English. As long as English continues to influence many of the domains Romania is expanding into, Hungarian (and Hungarian English) will remain in the shadows.
